Montenegro fits a lot of river into a small country. Deep limestone canyons, powerful mountain rivers and quieter spring-fed water sit within a short drive of each other. You can expect technical casting, delicate presentations, careful wading and wild-water adventure.
Canyons and mountain rivers
The Tara cuts one of the deepest canyons in Europe. The Lim and Morača bring big, clear water through dramatic valleys, while the spring-fed Zeta and the clear Cijevna offer a slower, more technical game.
The fishing
Much of the water is fast and powerful, so reading the river matters as much as the fly. Depending on conditions, days can move from dry flies in the evening to Euro nymphing deep runs and streamers through big pools.
