Fly Fishing Balkan is the specialist fly-fishing division of Be In Balkan, created to connect fly fishermen with exceptional waters and carefully selected fishing experiences across the Balkans.
More than two decades on the ground
For more than two decades, since 2002, Be In Balkan has worked throughout the region in tourism, destination management, ground transportation, guiding, accommodation, events, interpretation and travel logistics. Our network has been built through years of working on the ground across the Balkans and developing relationships with local professionals, communities, hotels, guides, drivers and destination partners.
Why fly fishing needs its own team
Fly Fishing Balkan was created as a natural extension of that experience, but with a very specific purpose. Fly fishing demands a higher degree of destination knowledge and trip planning than conventional tourism. A productive fishing day can depend on the river, season, water level, weather, access, regulations, techniques, local conditions, equipment, and even the ability to change plans when nature dictates it. A regional fly-fishing journey therefore requires much more than a booking platform.
Fly Fishing Balkan is a dedicated product of Be In Balkan, while Fly Fishing Kosovo is its specialized counterpart within Be In Kosovo. The dedicated platforms allow us to provide the level of attention, research, logistics and personalization that serious fly-fishing travel deserves.
Alban Rafuna
The entire network is directed by Alban Rafuna, a tourism professional with more than two decades of experience across the Balkans and a self-made fly fisherman. Alban's own fly-fishing journey began through his great friendship with Dennis Waddell from the United States, owner and operator of Fishin' and Flies. Over many years, Dennis shared his knowledge and experience with Alban, providing an important foundation for his development as a fly fisherman.
Today, Alban's greatest advantage is the combination of fishing experience and Balkan logistics. He understands the region not only as a fisherman, but as a tourism professional who has spent decades moving people through it. That combination becomes particularly valuable when planning multi-day or multi-country fishing journeys where rivers, borders, vehicles, accommodation, guides, equipment, weather and timing all have to work together.
